The souls of creatures, whether simple or titanic, did not always dissipate into the ether after death. Sometimes, in places charged with primal energies or during forgotten rituals, these spiritual essences crystallized, forming Soulshards. These ethereal gems, often polyhedral in shape and bathed in a soft light, are the silent fragments of a distant past. Each Soulshard carries within it an echo, a tiny fragment of the will or memory of the soul that spawned it. The oldest are said to whisper secrets of the world before, while the newest vibrate with raw energy. Soulshards are not mere stones; they are a tangible connection to the past and a source of latent power. Attracting the most greedy souls, they have become the most coveted and dangerous currency of the Age of Avarice. To possess a Soulshard is to hold in your hands a piece of history and a promise of influence... but also to expose yourself to the echoes of the spirits they contain.
